John Bonham A Commemoration 2020

Friday 25th September 2020 sees the 40th Anniversary of the sad passing of John Henry Bonham, a date which we could not let go by without remembering him, here in his hometown of Redditch, Worcestershire.

 

Although our original plans for this year have had to be postponed until September 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on international travel, we have organised a downscaled  programme of events

 

Thursday 24th September  8pm BST "Local Lad - Global Rock Legend"

 

A short film (50 mins) about John's early life in Redditch and on the Birmingham music scene pre-Led Zeppelin. With exclusively recorded clips from Bev Bevan, Carmine Appice & others.

Friday 25th September  7.30pm BST  Candlelight Vigil, John Bonham Memorial,

Mercian Square, Redditch

 

A quiet gathering to pay our respects with candles, flowers and tributes. This will be streamed live via our facebook page for fans around the world.

 

 

Saturday 26th September  1pm - 7pm BST. Rocklands, Headless Cross, Redditch

 

An afternoon of live music from West Midlands Blues/Rock bands in memory of Bonzo. Limited capacity of 60.  This will be streamed live via our facebook page for fans around the world.
