PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ THIS LATEST STATEMENT FROM THE FESTIVAL DIRECTOR
As I write we are facing at least another 3 weeks in lockdown, and more summer events and festivals being cancelled or postponed for a year. We do not yet know when restrictions will be lifted, and how long it will take for things to get back to normal.
However, with just over 5 months to go, I remain cautiously optimistic that John Bonham A Celebration II will be allowed to take place, as scheduled.
But there is one other key factor which could affect this – financing the Festival. Like most other festivals, we rely on advance ticket sales and business sponsorship to cover the costs of staging the event.
Understandably, no-one is buying tickets during this Covid-19 crisis, and the longer this goes on, the shorter the amount of time there will be to sell enough tickets to ensure the Festival is a financially viable one. Also, as all but essential businesses are closed temporarily, we have not been able to obtain essential sponsorship funding from companies and other commercial supporters.
Without having confidence that we will be able to cover all costs, we may well have to take the extremely difficult decision to cancel this year’s Festival.
So, we really need your help right now! And there are 2 things you can do:
1. ‘Pledge to Buy’ – simply email [email protected] and state which evening (Fri 25th and/or Sat 26th Sept) you pledge to buy tickets for and in what quantity. Please ensure you include your name and a contact number. For ticket info, go to www.JohnBonhamAC.com/tickets Of course, you may purchase tickets now, if you wish – full refunds will be available should we be forced to cancel the Festival.
2. Purchase a 2018 Souvenir Programme –just £4 plus postage &packing from our website www.JohnBonhamAC.com/shop . A 24-page full colour booklet with full line up info for the inaugural John Bonham A Celebration, held in Redditch on Saturday 22nd September 2018 to mark John’s 70th Birthday and the official unveiling of the John Bonham Memorial by his sister, Deborah Bonham. A ‘must have’ guide for every John Bonham/Led Zeppelin Fan.
